Chapter 4: The Day and the Night
The morning light had grown stronger by the time Raghuvendra and Meera stepped out of the bridal chamber. The cold semi winter air filled the corridors of the large haveli. Servants moved quietly with their heads lowered not daring to look directly at the Sarpanch. Meera walked a few steps behind her husband. Her simple saree felt too thin against the chill and every movement reminded her of the soreness between her legs and in her back passage. She kept her eyes fixed on the floor her cheeks still flushed with embarrassment from the bathroom events.
